Our Spring 2013 service learning event dates have been set for March and April. Service learning coordinator and graduate student, Amy Smith, has arranged eight events in our local parks and greenspaces. In addition to our long time partners, IndyParks and the Central Indiana Land Trust ("CILTI"), we are pleased to announce a new partner in service learning this season, Indiana Native Plant and Wildflower Society ("INPAWS"). The INPAWS project is right next to campus as the Turner Gardens at the Indiana State Museum.
We are also pleased to welcome back service learning assistnat W. Scott Davidson and welcome two new service learning assistants, Austin Taylor and Elizabeth Johnson. We hope that Austin and Elizabeth will remain with us through next Decmeber. All thee interns will be participating in the service learning events. In addition, Scott and Austin will help with coordinating those events, which is no small task with over 300 students anticipated. Scott and Austin are sponsored by the Center for Service and Learning. Elizabeth will be the special project coordinator on CEES' side for the new Englewood Community Develeopment Corporation Community Garden project; her position is co-sponsored by the IUPUI Solution Center.
